Excellent! You’ve come to the right place. Archery builds strength, confidence, focus and mental toughness, but is also relaxing, meditative and a lot of fun.
At Tampa Archery School, our goal is to provide you with the skills you need to make archery a rewarding activity you can enjoy for a lifetime.
ABOUT TAMPA ARCHERY SCHOOL
Tampa Archery School is a USA Archery, NFAA and ASA-certified program that offers safe, enjoyable archery lessons for youth (age 7+), teens and adults. Our friendly instructors have experience shooting all types of archery – traditional, Olympic recurve, compound bow, longbow and crossbow – and are eager to share their expertise and passion for the sport.

Our group archery classes primarily focus on developing proper shooting technique. As you advance, you will learn to tune your bow for maximum performance, score a competitive archery round, build an individual training plan and shoot with advanced archery techniques.
We see ourselves as more than just a place to go and learn to shoot a bow and arrow. Our mission is to help shape archers who will be positive ambassadors of the sport to their friends, family and the Tampa Bay community.

Archery Styles We Teach
BAREBOW/
TRADITIONAL
This style of archery includes longbows and recurve bows shot without a sight or other aiming aids. It is one of the purest forms of archery and a great place to start learning fundamentals.
However, it’s not just for beginners…there are world champion archers that shoot this style in competition.

traditional bows and related equipment are available as rentals for new archers.
OLYMPIC RECURVE
In this style, a recurve bow is shot with the addition of a sight, stabilizer, clicker and other shooting aids.
As the name suggests, it is the type of bow that is shot in the Olympics and requires physical, mental and technical precision to shoot accurately. Olympic recurves are typically “tuned” the individual archer.

Students must have their own olympic recurve and related equipment for lessons.
COMPOUND
A compound uses a cam system to allow the archer to draw and hold the full power of the bow with less effort, resulting in greater accuracy.
Compounds are shot with the aid of a sight, stabilizer and trigger device, and require the archer to be mentally focused, technically precise and have a bow that is uniquely “tuned” to the individual.
Students must have their own compound bow and related equipment for lessons.m.
CROSSBOW
A crossbow consists of a bow-like assembly mounted on a frame that is held in a similar fashion to a long firearm. Crossbows shoot arrow-like projectiles called bolts.
Similar to a compound bow, the crossbow requires sharp mental focus and meticulous technique. Each crossbow is uniquely “tuned” to the individual shooter.m

Students must have their own crossbow and related equipment for lessons.
TAMPA BAY SPORTING CLAYS
Tampa Archery School meets on Saturday mornings at Tampa Bay Sporting Clays.
​
Tampa Bay Sporting Clays has some of the best archery facilities in Tampa, including two courses.
​
The Stationary Course is designated for all bows, including crossbows, with field points and has shooting stations from 10 yards to 50 yards.
​
The 3D Course is ASA certified and has 15 stations with at least one life-size animal target at each station. The course is set up in the woods and includes targets representing deer, bears, wild boar, impala, pronghorn antelope, wolves, panthers and mountain goats.
